Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer

Ingredients

FOR THE TERIYAKI SAUCE

  • ½ cup light soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp light brown sugar or to taste
  • ½ cup mirin
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp ginger powder
  • corn starch slurry (1 tbsp corn starch mixed with 2 tbsp water)

FOR THE SALMON

  • 3 salmon fillets 5 - 5.5oz each
  • 4-5 tbsp teriyaki sauce (see above) or to taste
  • cooking oil spray
  • sesame seeds optional

Instructions

TO MAKE THE TERIYAKI SAUCE:

  • In a small pot, over low heat, transfer all the sauce ingredients (except for the corn starch slurry) and stir until the mixture comes to a slight boil. Gradually add the corn starch slurry while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Allow the sauce to cool before use, or refrigerate for future use.

TO MAKE THE SALMON:

  • Coat the salmon fillets with 4-5 tbsp of the teriyaki sauce (per above) and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Spray a thin layer of cooking oil on the air fryer basket.
  • Gently rest the marinated salmon fillets onto the basket, 1-2 inches apart, skin side down.
  • Spray cooking oil on the salmon fillets, then air fry at 390°F for 10 minutes. Keep in mind that times and temperatures may vary depending on your air fryer.
  • Remove fillets from air fryer. Optionally, baste the salmon with more teriyaki sauce and top with sesame seeds. Serve immediately and enjoy!
