Wash the exterior of the pomegranate thoroughly.
Using a knife, remove the crown of the pomegranate, until you see the seeds and ridges from the top. The ridges are white lines that separate the pomegranate into individual sections.
Score the skin, from top to bottom, cutting along the ridges.
Using your fingers, gently pry the pomegranate open, breaking it into sections.
Working with one section at a time, gently push the seeds away from the white membranes into a large bowl. You may deseed while submerging each section underwater as well to avoid juice from splattering everywhere.
Run the bowl of seeds with some water. Using a strainer or your hands, remove the membranes that float to the surface until only seeds remain.
Carefully strain the water or pour the seeds into a colander. Enjoy!
- If you do not see ridges, just cut along the skin (not cutting too deep, or you will puncture the seeds and cause a mess!)
