Summer is here and the hot weather makes me long for some iced cold drinks! Besides iced cappuccino, bubble tea and a tasty iced matcha latte, Thai iced tea is on top of my list of favorite cold drinks. This beverage is a menu item I order practically every time I dine in at a Thai restaurant and below I am going to share its simple recipe! Make sure you tag me @rackoflam on social media to let me know you’ve tried it!
Thai Iced Tea Recipe
The combination of sweetness from condensed milk and aromatic flavors from tea leaves makes this drink irresistible all year round!
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- ½ cup Thai tea mix
- 1 tbsp condensed milk (or to taste) *for each serving*
- evaporated milk optional
- ice
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil
- Transfer the Thai tea mix into the loose tea infuser of a teapot, then pour the boiling water into the teapot, allowing the tea to steep for at least 5 minutes. (Alternatively, you may transfer the tea mix directly into the pot of boiling water, then strain the tea using a mesh sieve).
- Transfer one tablespoon of condensed milk (or to taste) into a glass or mug, then pour in 1 cup of Thai tea. Stir until condensed milk is completely dissolved.
- Fill a separate glass with ice, then transfer the tea into the glass. Optionally, top the drink off with a some evaporated milk. Enjoy!
