If you’re a fan of flavorful chicken wings tossed in a delicious, stick-icky Korean inspired sauce, but want to use a healthier cooking method for the sake of your heart and gut health, look no further than this blog post for Air Fryer Korean Soy Garlic Wings! Air frying is a game changer, providing you with that satisfying crunch without the excess calories and oil that unnecessarily oozes out from the skin.
Why Air Frying?
Air frying offers several advantages over deep frying, which is why it has become such a popular choice for healthier cooking nowadays. Here are some of the key reasons why it is often considered the better alternative:
- OIL CONTENT: Air frying uses significantly less oil than deep frying, with some recipes requiring absolutely no oil at all! This reduces fat content and calorie intake, making it a healthier cooking method.
- RESULTS: Unlike deep frying, which requires submerging food in hot oil, air frying cooks food by circulating hot air around it, still creating a crispy exterior while retaining moisture inside.
- CLEANUP: Cleanup after air frying simply requires washing the air fryer basket and wiping down the interior of the appliance, which is much easier than cleanup after deep frying! I mean, what do you do with all that oil?
Why You’ll Love These Wings
- Simple and Easy: Using the air fryer to cook chicken wings makes it faster than traditional frying methods. Moreover, you can make the sauce while the wings are air-frying, hitting 2 birds with one stone. These will be perfect for weeknight dinners or a game day snack!
- Healthier: Using less oil means you can enjoy your wings without the added guilt!
- Bold Flavors: The combination of soy sauce, mirin, sugar and garlic creates a delicious coating on the chicken, which ensures that every bite is jam-packed with flavor.
Tips for Success
Remove excess rice wine: Upon brining the wings with rice wine, attempt to shake off as much rice wine as possible.
Baking powder: Do not eliminate baking powder in this recipe! This ingredient promises extra crispy results.
Overcrowding: Do not overcrowd or overlap the wing pieces in your air fryer basket.
